Switzerland vetoes German request to re-export “Marder” ammunition to Ukraine

  1. I’m positive that some galaxy brained redditors can explain to us how this is also Germany’s fault in 3, 2, 1…

  2. > “Both of Germany’s requests were answered in the negative with reference to Swiss neutrality and the mandatory rejection criteria of the war material legislation,” it quoted the spokesperson as saying.
    > …
    > Switzerland has departed with past practice and adopted European Union sanctions designed to punish Russian for invading Ukraine, but has said its neutrality does not permit providing arms in conflict zones.

    (from the article)

    > Arms worth a total of almost CHF5 million were exported to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain, all of whom are engaged in the current conflict in Yemen.

“Neutrality” is always code for “we like to make money from everybody and we don’t ask questions.”

  3. Russia does not give a shit about your “neutrality” Switzerland. If they could, they’d rape and kill you too.

  4. Europe’s leech within its midst. Sucking the life out of its neighbours. Covering up corruption and helping Nazis keep their loot. Why do we permit Switzerland to exist as it is? Fuck them and their leech nation. Switzerland is a parasite

  5. So, did we just accidentally find the real reason Germany can’t export its Marders directly to Ukraine?

  6. The Switzerland’s veil of ‘neutrality’ is really thin when you give it more than just a glancing look. They are exportimg weapons to countries that are engaged in attack warfare and deeply tied various criminal money laundering operations and have passed laws that prohibit their investigation.

The Swiss seems to be the proverbial evil wizard on top of the montain, or behind the curtain.

  7. A good reason to make sure you’re not buying arms from Switzerland in future.

NATO should start blacklisting countries from future procurement efforts. That’s a big enough bloc that it’d have a real impact.

  8. I’d think that kind of export rules would be quite a deterrent of not using those arms suppliers. I mean, you mostly need ammunition when you are in actual conflict. A company that can’t legally provide the product when it’s needed the most is not a particularly useful partner.

  9. Switzerland is not a state with a president that is just able to decide whatever he wants. There are laws which clearly state, that Switzerland is not alowed to export arms into states at war. This has also to do with neutrality in international law. There is noone with the power to alow those exports. It would need a change of the Swiss constitution, and therefore a public vote. Germany should just not ask and noone in Switzerland would give a fuck.
