So we know we are being overcharged. Windfall tax anyone?
Filled mine at Tesco forecourt, diesel £1.69/ litre. Just checked price at Morrisons couple miles away: £1.74/ litre.
How is it overcharging? are they not just changing the current acceptable price?
If you owned a business and had the ability to charge more and people still buy the product you 100% would charge more
There’s a few people around the Kent area in one of my telegram groups saying a lot of petrol stations have been dry the last couple of days
Well duh, we haven’t really used that much oil the past two years how are the share holders gonna remake their profits…
You should see the wholesale gas prices at the moment
I recommend a app called petrolprices that locates the cheapest fuel in your area based on the reporting of price by other users. It’s really helpful.
The takeover of Asda is completely to blame for this. They now no longer care about being competitive and no supermarkets are starting a price war like they used to to bring prices down.
Morrisons in my town is actually the most expensive for diesel in the area. Never thought that would happen.
Don’t worry though. Non Dom Rishi cut fuel duty by a whopping 5p a litre. Patel also got 100k for some reason. I really wish I could remember why.
I genuinely look at the cars that turn into the Esso near me and just think they must just have so much money they don’t care what the fuel costs. There’s an Asda about 200m down the road that’s like 15p a litre cheaper
As the Tories allude to. ” you will do as your told and you will like it” Enjoy
Petrol pumps up my way are rigged to always hit £20.01 every time I fill up I get to £19.90 and hold it ever so gently and watch it go up penny by penny until it hits £19.99 and jump to £20.01 every time
No shit. Aftet the fuel panic they just kept the prices up.
Still too cheap.

When I no longer see people idling their engines outside schools I’ll know it’s getting towards the right price.
Strange to use a picture of a Shell petrol station as the headline image whilst mentioning 3 other companies for being the most costly. Is the editor trying not to piss off those companies or did they just not take the time to find a different stock image?
Cheer up, it’s becoming difficult to get fuel in the SE anyway now, so you won’t be paying anything to sit at home.
It’s easy to identify the stations that overcharge. Many have shown receipts showing that their markup is not high though.
I don’t see any huge issue, plan ahead and use a cheap station. If you are remotely based then unfortunately delivery charges were high
Its not all bad. I have noticed a substantial reduction in congestion at peak times. A lot of people are simply sticking to essential journeys only. Air quality has improved and commute times have halved.
Local Esso’s are nearly 10p/litre more expensive than Shell, so that’s where my money goes.
This is not something new, prices always rise like a rocket and fall like a feather.
It fucks me right off that the 5p tax reduction was eaten immediately by forecourts just pocketing the difference. It also fucked me off that supermarkets made a big deal about dropping the price by 20p a litre as soon as people kicked up a stink, then a week later they crept back up again. I was on a break in cornwall last week and I couldn’t get diesel for less than £1.80. I come back to South Yorks and the price has gone from £1.55 when I left to £1.68.
Edit: just checked Petrolprices and the cheapest is up to £1.71 now over the space of 2 days.
£30 on a Costco membership through work is starting to feel like the best decision I ever made.
