Furious locals’ in deprived Hampshire town say ‘secret’ plan to move migrants into £250,000 flats will be the final nail in the coffin of their ‘Zombieland’ High Street

Locals in Waterlooville, Hampshire have said the new arrivals could bring ‘chaos’ to the already ‘dead’ community hub following unrest at other migrant sites last week which saw riot police deployed in Epping and Canary Wharf. The Home Office plan to relocate 35 asylum seekers to a brand new development, where flats can sell for £250,000, is part of a new initiative to lower the numbers in hotels and ‘disperse’ migrants across UK towns and cities. However, it was done without any consultation with the local council to the dismay of locals and tensions in the town which has been described as a ‘zombieland’ due to its low visitor numbers is high.

3. Deprived local town lmfao it’s basically an extension of Portsmouth, but it’s kinda sub urban and a bit quieter.

   Its used a photograph from a single run down building in large shopping precinct with relatively new super stores a 2 minute walk from it. There’s been loads of infrastructure redevelopment there on recent years.

4. This is even worse than housing them in hotels. Now the supply of homes in the area will be reduced.

   I wonder how many of the homeless population are being given their own apartment…?

13. Having grown up in Gosport, I find it hilarious to see Waterlooville described as deprived.

14. Why would I ever pay council tax, service is shit and they give it to people who don’t belong here or pay the tax

15. What bugs me is we had a solution for homeless, for those fleeing an abusive home instead for decades they’ve had to deal with a barely there service from councils they have to jump through so many hoops to get.

    I totally understand why we house the migrants, just where was the will for so many other vulnerable people.
