On July 29th, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov held talks with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos who is on a working visit to Belarus, sb.by reports citing Belarus’ Foreign Ministry

This is the first visit of the Head of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry to Belarus.

The talks covered all aspects of the Belarus-Ethiopia agenda, with emphasis on implementing agreements reached on various levels earlier. The parties expressed mutual interest in building up bilateral trade and co-operation in food security, and expanding humanitarian and cultural ties.



The sides agreed to take practical steps to initiate joint projects in Ethiopia’s agricultural mechanisation using Belarusian equipment and technologies, personnel training for its maintenance, education of agricultural specialists at Belarusian institutions, transfer of agricultural technology and development of legal framework .

Belarus and Ethiopia co-ordinated a schedule of bilateral events until the end of 2025, including holding political consultations between foreign ministries, establishing an intergovernmental commission and negotiating at the level of relevant ministries and business circles.

Minsk and Addis Ababa confirmed their commitment to deepen political dialogue, as well as to further co-operation and mutual support within the UN, BRICS and other multilateral platforms.
