I very much doubt any single party will “win”. It’s going to be a full PR election and I would be amazed if any one party gets a majority of seats – the next Welsh government will be a coalition.
Hopefully, even if Reform are the largest party, the other parties will refuse to form a coalition with Reform. My expectation is that the next Welsh government will be a Labour/Plaid coalition.
Given that they’ve adopted 90% of Reform’s policies, does it matter?
Its amazing how quikcly people have forgotten the last load of lies Temu-Trump sold them then abanonded them.
Welsh Labour deserve more hate for not calling out Starmer more.
Another tiresome talking point. The system stops anyone from winning a majority in Wales outside of some very extreme circumstances. As a result the next government will likely be a coalition in some form, by some name. Whichever is politically acceptable at the time to those involved.
In such a scenario all parties participating are equally ‘placed’ to stop any party which is not part thereof.
The new voting system should in theory mean no party will “win” if winning means getting a majority: they would need at least 45% of the vote share for it, which I don’t think any party in has ever got in a UK general or devolved election in modern times. Reform would need a coalition, and the only party who would realistically go into one with them are the Tories, who are small currently and still declining in the polls. I think it will be an outcome similar to what they have in Ireland currently, where no matter how many seats Sinn Fein gets, they won’t ever be in power as no other mainstream party will agree to go into coalition with them.
Why is everyone going for a Plaid/Lab vote?
Last year, people here were moaning of the shit show of Plaid and we all can see how Labour has turned out for all of us here in Wales.
Plaid is like the partner that promises everything and falls through at the last minute. Unreliable and nothing has changed in how they operate. As for Labour, I am not quite sure I want to vote for them again after this election. It’s so obvious they are all pigs in the trough loving the gravy train, without a thought or care because they know they will be voted in again and again at the next election!
I don’t want Plaid riding on Labours coat tails, I want the Party’s to earn the vote and actually come through with the changes we need for Wales.
Plaid is the equivalent of Lib Dems – made far too many mistakes and it’s haunting them already and they don’t care or pretend nothing has happened. It’s been an enabler of Labours awful policies. It’s just bonkers to me how many are forgetting how bad Plaid are?
If they actully did something right and not become a Welsh Labour of False promises that would be a start. The people in Wales deserves a party for the people not a Labour Mk2 that’s just a poor shit show of a party.
Labour, both in Westminster and Cardiff ARE the reason reform will do so well.
Labour has stopped listening, and we will ALL pay the price for it if reform gets into power.
The only thing that will stop Reform is the inevitable Labour/Plaid coalition stich-up. Expect more of the same, but worse.
