The final flat stage of this iteration of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift saw 130 kilometers of racing. After yesterday’s disaster at 3.5km from the finish, teams were on the defensive today. Once again, Maud Rijnbeek and Franzi Koch fired up the breakaway, joined by Ana Vitória Magalhães. Rijnbeek fell behind but Koch and Magalhães held the break until just under 4 km to go.
Wiebes and Vos repeated yesterday’s sprint, once again going 1-2, leaving Vos in the yellow and Wiebes in the green. But the bigger topic is the absolute deterioration of the leaderboard—with top contenders and sprinters like Marlen Reusser, Elisa Longo Borghini and Charlotte Kool abandoning the race and Demi Vollering, Puck Pieterse, Liane Lippert and Kristen Faulkner all being involved in fairly serious crashes—two for Faulkner—the GC is less obvious than anyone had expected, and even the green points jersey has less contenders than usual, with Lorena Wiebes and Marianne Vos with a huge lead in points—Vos has more than double third place!
