Driver killed 18-day-old baby when car hit pram

  1. “He was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and jailed for six-and-a-half years.”

“Davis, of Croxtalls Avenue, Walsall, was told he was likely to serve half his sentence before being released on licence.”

    An absolutely fucking pathetic sentence.

“He was also banned from driving for seven years and three months”

If you kill anyone, let alone an 18-day-old baby, you should be banned from driving FOR LIFE.

“After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.”

The legal system in the UK is a joke.

  2. That monster should have gotten a life sentence, not some soft 6 and a half years. We are so weak in this country. At least he’ll get hell once other prisoners find out what he did.

  3. > Jurors heard the 35-year-old had a teenage passenger in the BMW and had been driving at 67mph in a 30mph shortly before the crash on 4 April 2021.

Zero confidence the justice system will do justice here.

    edit:

    > After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.

    Turns out it already failed.

  4. That is not a sufficient custodial sentence. It’s not terrible, but it’s not long enough.

The guy should already have had a lifetime driving ban before this incident, he should definitely have one now.

  5. The fact he’ll be out in 3 years and no doubt driving again is sickening.

“After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.”

I thought Tories were supposed to be tough on crime? What do they gain by being soft on baby killers? I’m surprised there aren’t more stories about people taking justice into their own hands.

  6. The British justice system has completely failed to do what is supposed to do on all 4 points. (Copied from BBC GCSE site).

Deterrence – punishment should put people off committing crime

Protection – punishment should protect society from the criminal and the criminal from themselves.

Reformation – punishment should reform the criminal.

Retribution – punishment should make the criminal pay for what they have done wrong.

Then they wonder why people take the law into own hands.

  7. We seem pretty okay as a society with having dangerous vehicles driven by barely trained people who, upon hitting someone, gets treated like they’re the victim as our main form of transport, huh.

  8. I always find it odd that you can kill someone by dangerous driving and not be banned from driving.

I mean if you compare it to say our firearm legislation, we have no issue preventing someone from owning a firearm if they break the law, regardless on whether they previously had a firearm license.

  9. “After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.”

This cunt should never be allowed behind the wheel of anything ever again.

  10. Why the hell are vehicular-related crimes treated lightly by the courts?

Driving is a privilege. If you can’t behave reasonably within the law, you should be disqualified for life on top of other sentences and take public transportation.

  11. I mean, what more can you say. 12 years of this conservative party in government 12 years of drivel about being tough on crime.

The system of pandering to repeat criminals in the hope of reforming them is failing, killing babies, adults, pensioners, destroying lives and making a mockery of the majority of citizens who abide by the laws.

  12. Yet another example proving the horrible saying “if you want to murder someone, use a car”. Why are sentences so light for these events? It’s so depressing. That poor child.

  13. **He was also banned from driving for seven years and three months**

Nope that is just shameful and totally unacceptable, .

James Davis should never be allowed to drive any vehicle , ever again, he lacks the capacity, skillset and responsibility to operate
anything that could do damage to other humans.

**After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.**

**Jurors heard the 35-year-old had a teenage passenger in the BMW and had been driving at 67mph in a 30mph shortly before the crash on 4 April 2021.**

He should be banned for life, and if ever found in charge of a vehicle again, he should serve a life prison sentence,

If he waved a gun around and shot a baby, we would not hesitate to ensure he was removed from society, he is just as dangerous with a vehicle as he would be with a gun.

  14. Clearly does not care about anyone else looking at past records.should be life as will clearly present risk again

  15. >After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.

I’m not a fan of ‘three-strikes’ laws that can see people given lengthy prison sentences after their third crime.

However a 30-strikes law seems pretty reasonable.

  16. So he’ll likely get a driving awareness course?

If you want to murder someone in the UK and get away with it. Do it with a car.

  17. BMWs and Audis everywhere, driving like complete idiots. I regularly see many near my local Sainsburys doing 60+ in a 30.

It’s that very particular type of cunt you seem to find all over the UK and this is exactly what happens when they aren’t stopped.

I struggle to walk my daughter near roads for fear of exactly this happening. Now loads of other anxious parents are going to be having panic attacks trying to walk their children places.

Fuck cars and swaths of space the roads they use inhabit with only a curb to stop a 67mph BMW from mowing us down.

  18. Fucking six years for killing a baby with a car, the guy who hit my wife and is extremely lucky she didn’t die got 2 years, after it was found out he was doing double the speed limit in a 40 zone, he had been using his phone, drinking alcohol and driving without due care by weaving over the road. Fucking joke of a system is our law system. A baby had it’s life taken for fuck sake

  19. > After being convicted, it emerged Davis had made 11 previous court appearances for 35 offences including driving without insurance and drink-driving.

And still only given 6 years for murder. Good to know your country is as bad as mine when it comes to vehicular homicide not being taken seriously enough.

  20. No probs, he’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist for killing a baby, in accordance with the local judicial system. ✌🏻

Edit: just saw OP’s comment, that he might be out in as little as 3 years. Guess I wasn’t wrong.

  21. Why am I not surprised this clown had previous for driving illegally. He’ll be back at it once he gets released. Our country is awash with cretins like him, knows all their rights but none of their responsibilities.

We should run a 3 strikes and you’re out system. Certain crimes carry a strike and once you’ve got all 3 you’re locked up until you die in jail.

RIP baby. As a father of two I don’t envy the parents for the trauma they’re going through at what should be one of the proudest, happiest and tired part of their lives. Awful.

  22. I think a fitting punishment is getting his arms and legs chopped off. Dude had no respect for life. A car is a weapon and he used it as a weapon multiple times

  23. That’s a lenient sentence for a person with a clean record causing dangerous driving and running from the scene.

How does someone who has been to court 11 times and 30 odd driving offences get out in 3 years after killing a baby?

That poor child and those poor parents. They’ll be terrified of walking any future babies down the street in a pram.

  24. So let me get this straight, this man has over two dozen other driving offenses, was driving over twice the speed limit, hit a car, killed a baby, fled the scene, hid his phone from the police, and tried to claim innocence in court… and he gets a mere 6 years jail and 7 years driving ban? Absolute fucking joke!

  25. As a parent to a 2 year old I can’t even begin to imagine what the parents of this poor, wonderful baby are going through. I would happily end this man painfully without an ounce of remorse. He isn’t even an animal, he’s a stain that needs to be removed.

  26. My god. How do you come back from that? Like, the mother and father must be destroyed. Bless them both. My heart goes out to them and all their family.
