Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan dies at 71 • FRANCE 24 English

One of the most recognizable faces in the world of wrestling, Hulk Hogan, born Terry Bollea, exploded onto the wrestling stage in the late 70s. He drew comparisons to and half of his nickname from the Marvel comic book hero played on TV at the time. It was the next decade that saw Hogan and his brand of Hulkamania become a household name, drawing legions of fans for the World Wrestling Federation, now known as World Wrestling Entertainment. He transformed that fame into success outside the ring, too. Not just in Hollywood and on television, but promoting all sorts of products throughout his life. Basically having a real American beer that’s made here in America by Americans for Americans. And guess what? The owners actually live here. With the rise came a fall after a sex tape of Hogan and a friend’s wife came to light in 2012 and he was fired from the WWE following a recording of him using a racist slur in 2015. He later won a multi-million dollar suit for invasion of privacy over the sex tape and the WWE reinstated him in 2018. Later came his endorsement of Donald Trump in the 2024 election. Something that divided wrestling fans. I said, “Let Trumpomania run wild, brother. Let Trumpania rule again. Let Trumpomania make America great again.” Hogan was far from out of the wrestling game, though. As recently as April, he announced plans to serve as a commissioner for the Real American Freestyle Organization, a more unscripted approach to the sport. People might be surprised, but wrestling is wrestling, brother. that I just jumped at the chance to get involved in this because I actually believe we’re on track to be as powerful as the UFC, the WWE, or anything down the road. After years in the ring, Hogan had a legacy of health problems in later years. But the legacy he leaves behind after his death endures in the fans who loved him.

Hulk Hogan, the legendary wrestling icon who became a pop culture phenomenon in the 1980s and later transitioned into acting, has died at age 71, US media reported. Known for his larger-than-life persona and pivotal role in bringing professional wrestling into the mainstream, Hogan passed away at his Florida home following a reported cardiac arrest.

  1. Oh dear, quelle domage, what a pity, never mind. Close but no cigar for Death until he nails the orange numpty too.

  2. Rip to my favorite raceist WWE person 🕊 hopefully his soul can be freed of all the real bad things he has done.
