But its a very valid point. I have heard some utter shit from parents, such as “this is the schools responsibility” for anything from, get this, teaching them to wash their hands, wipe their asses, eat correctly, act correctly, not bully….and the list goes on. There is something wrong somewhere.

If someone suggested that we “make parents actually parent their children” and remove any and all responsibility from the shop regarding who they sell drink, cigs and porn to there be looked at as a moron.
We’ve just given 16 year olds the right to VOTE which is a right given to adults. But we need to lock down the Internet in case they see violence or pornography.
Why do these 16 year old children get the right to vote on anything that may influence violence or pornography if they aren’t old enough to view any of it?

By working in a holiday park, on one of the biggest uk sites, in one of the most profitable restaurants, I can confirm that the amount of families that come in with young kids, each of them with a tablet is insane. I don’t think i can count the kids with no screens shoved in their faces on one hand.
What’s more insane is that I’ve seen tons of ppl shoving screens in front of actually babies. Single digit month old babies. It’s insane.
I’m a parent, and im not perfect, my toddler gets screen time, but I would never in a million years think to just shove a screen in their face, as a way of distraction unless absolutely necessary, then shove a screen in my face too.
Slightly on a tangent, but do you think “top shelf” magazines will become a thing again?

Parents parent their kids by starting them early on the tablet then giving them a phone. Working in retail previously Ive seen 90% of the mothers and dad coming with their kids to give them a phone to shut up. What parenting is that lol then wonder why they’re on crazy websites they shouldn’t be on

don’t agree with how they’ve done the ban at all but the purpose is stop kids accidentally finding porn not to make it impossible for them to find it which it does work for. i got abused by a teenager when i was a kid and this guy was forcing me to watch porn on my pc when i was like 9. that kinda fucked me up a bit and think this ban would have stopped it from happening and no amount of parenting could have stopped that situation from happening. the issue is how they’ve done it with no effort rushed it out exposing our data.
Age verification is the least worst approach. How good were your parents and how much did you listen to/obey them?
I fucking detest the lack of accountability for parents. I really do. It should be automatic that your ISP and phone carrier enact adult content blocks, rather than them being an opt in, it should be an opt out.
