That’s a cold war in one body.
As an East German I knew quite a few with polish sounding last names but never considered them not German. But I’m also coming from the northern parts which has been populated by slavs a long time until it was germanised.

As a German from the Ruhrpott names like the first are so common that you stop noticing it.
Weirdly they both speak English
me with my -berg surname
Ewww, please no. Proud to be an eastern european, not some mitteleuropean. I’d rather be assosciated with dead rats than with germs.
It be like that. My last name’s Czech of all places

– To było tak. W skład polskiej delegacji wchodził premier Bartel, minister komunikacji inż. Kuehn, komisarz generalny RP w Gdańsku dr Strasburger, odpowiedzialny pracownik Komisariatu dr Weyers oraz korespondent Polskiej Agencji Telegraficznej red. Sonnenburg. Wszyscy ci Polacy mieli niemieckie nazwiska.
Stronę gdańską natomiast reprezentowali Niemcy: wiceprezydent Senatu Wierciński, senator spraw wewnętrznych Arczyński, senator do spraw handlu Jewelowsky, kierownik biura prasowego w Senacie Lubiansky, i przedstawiciel prezydium policji Pokrzywiński”
