  1. Always thought the ‘we don’t want to arrest because it’ll look racist’ excuse was dodgy

  2. The way Rotherham victims were treated are nothing but shameful

  3. >**Officer named**

    >We cannot see the names of the former SYP officers referred to in the accounts of their alleged victims, because the women’s accounts have been redacted.

    >But three former officers have been arrested since December 2024 on suspicion of historic sexual offences – including attempted rape, indecent assault and misconduct in a public office. The crimes are alleged to have taken place between 1995 and 2004 while the officers were on duty as PCs. None has been charged.

    >But the BBC understands that one alleged victim, Willow – in a report to police – has named PC Hassan Ali as having raped her.

    >”The first time, he literally said: ‘You do it for the other officer. So you’re gonna do it for me,'” she tells us.

    >PC Ali died in January 2015, a week after he was hit by a car. On the day the collision took place, he had been put on restricted duties because of an investigation into alleged misconduct in the abuse scandal. He was never arrested.

  4. For fuck’s sake.

I never believed the police were scared of appearing racist but not once did I think the real reason could be that they were also part of the gangs.

  5. Anybody who believed that “we didn’t do anything cos we were afraid of looking racist” BS did so cos it’swhat they wanted to believe. It was always an excuse to deflect from the cops own negligence and/or complicity.

The kicker in the article is that the investigation into these South Yorkhire Police officers is being conducted by …South Yorkshire Police.

  6. I believe it, I was in a mental health crisis in a very vulnerable state at 17 years old, and a single male police officer came alone to see me. I often think he was ridiculing me, “let’s see what a psychotic girl looks like”

My mum immediately reported it and I’ve heard radio silence since. This was in Rotherham btw. 2021.

If you’re a working class individual they do not care.

  7. As an outsider, I am baffled by the story of Rotherham.
What the hell is wrong with that city?

  8. WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT

im shocked, absolutley shocked, that the problem wasnt that the police were scared of being labled as “woke” or “racist”, and not “police corruption was rampant and they were either in on it or turned a blind eye”.

After all we all know the police are terrified of ever accidently accusing non-white people, and Im sure plenty of SA survivors will mention at how the police always are sympathetic to victims. (/s unless it was blindingly obvious)

  9. WHAT?!? No.. not South Yorkshire police! Tell me it isn’t so!

  10. This has always been the missing link to understanding what happened in Rotherham, and it’s frankly a dereliction of duty that it’s taken this long for someone to report on it, much less to integrate it into the broader public understanding of the “grooming gangs” scandal.

  11. There is still a sickening thought deep in me that this could be far bigger than anyone realises, and the Asians are just being the scape goat.

  12. I doubt it was just Rotherham, but this goes a long way to explaining why the police let it continue happening.

  13. jesus christ these kids really had nowhere to turn and nobody to help them if this is true.

Police should get life for this, imagine having to go through the ordeal all over again in place you should be safe.

  14. Maybe this is new information in connection with Rotherham but it was known already that this had happened at least once elsewhere, probably many times across the different towns and cities where this was and likely still is happening.

Also why the fuck is the investigation being handled by SYP. Seems completely inappropriate. Should be taken out of their hands and handed over to the NCA.
