Look lads. Peace is good and all but there is a financial constraints and Britain needs to use that money to pay massive identity corporations loads of money to mine data from people who want to wank.
The Labour government had been saying for well over a decade that they would repeal the 2 child limit here, then got into power and done a 180. They then went after the disabled and are seeking to cut benefits to them. If we are willing to let kids and disabled folk go hungry and die you can bet something like a little peace is going to be on the chopping block too so long as it saves us a bit of cash.
Our government are a bunch of cunts, and the original founders of Labour are spinning so quickly in their graves we could use them to bore tunnels through the earth.
I say we go to the border and push the “Welcome to Northern Ireland” sign up a few meters.
God bless Starmer, a self-identified “honest broker”.
What a laugh.
In my mind the main inflection point with the North over the last two decades was when the Unionists blocked Theresa May’s EU exit deal. The terms of which would have better for Northern Ireland as a whole than the one Boris Johnson ended up getting.
Once the major political parties in the UK do not need to placate the Unionists to prop up a government no one cares about the North. The English could get fully out of it in the morning, they would. It’s a never ending economic black hole and is a continuous source of frustration for Westminster.
The British are trying to reduce the economic drag, I suspect pulling this funding is a part of it, but who knows.
In discussing anything to do with the Northern Irish politics rationality and common sense goes out the fu**ing window.
Peace is good but it’s very important for the UK government to investigate anyone saying that Israel is committing genocide so that money is needed elsewhere.
But seriously, if the stated reason is to be believed and the UK is so strapped for cash that they can’t afford a £1M payment then things must be very fucking bad over there.
It is not believable that the UK government can’t afford £1 million they already committed to. I wonder if the thinking is that the Irish government will step in a pay the shortfall, given our budget situations are basically opposites.
