This has been Macron’s goal for a while now. The war in Ukraine just makes it even more important. Hopefully, if Le Pen happens to win (oh boy….), she won’t block it.
This is the way to go for both EU and America instead of just lecturing India, which — for various reasons — is bound to be an important player on the world stage. They are pro Russia for historical reasons and ties to the USSR but are sort of anti China.
