TLDR:
* Kate Middleton chose a selection of objects for display at the V&A East Storehouse
* The Princess of Wales toured the innovative new offshoot of the museum in London in June
* One of the items included in her display may have been inspired by an interest of her daughter, Princess Charlotte
This is cool, this is exactly what I hoped to see from her during these times, it’s a very creative thing to do and in tune with her interests, it runs longer than a day and lets people feel connected without her having to be physically present. I hope we see more things like this in the future.
Nice.
But I wish the media did not over sell by saying she acted as a museum curator. Its like saying someone who does a small display in a shop is acting as a supermarket manager. It invites criticism and mockery by over playing what is a nice thing.
*looks disdainfully at my art history grad thesis which ended up getting me nowhere*
I want to know do these disciplines become popular after they study it? Is there a correlation? I know it’s a silly question
I really like what this museum has done to have so much of their collection for viewing instead of packed away somewhere. I hope other museums follow suit in some way. Catherine’s curated display is one of over a hundred that will change – I think that sounds amazing to see how differently people put together items to express themselves and make you think when you view them.
Oh pfft she picked from options the real curators presented to her.
Charlotte is a princess, Meghan is a duchess, but Catherine is always “Kate Middleton”. The US media is insufferable with this.
