  1. Don’t give Ellen a single dime. Give him nothing and dare him to sue Ontario.

Not One Dime Doug! It’s ridiculous that any province, state, or country pays companies like Amazon, Starlink, or Tesla anything at all. It should be the other way around. If they want to operate in Canada, THEY should pay us!

Right now, these companies (especially Amazon) make profits off our market and give nothing back to society. Amazon does not provide good jobs, they increase pollution, they don’t pay enough taxes, they are trying to create a monopoly that will eliminate their competitors (small businesses) entirely. Which is not good for society. Less competition means consumers suffer.

Charge these companies through the nose to operate in Ontario. Charge them a premium Doug!

  2. 110m cost

Pug ford is an idiot, His supporters doubly so

  3. I’m not concerned about the cost.

We can’t trust our infrastructure to a Musk related company. With how he has turned off Starlink in ~~the~~ Ukraine we do not want any infrastructure in the hands of someone that is unstable like that. h

Sucks for remote people sure, hopefully some alternatives become more wide spread soon.

  4. Excellent. Now cancel the idea of selling Wasaga Beach.

  5. I’ll only say this really sucks for isolated communities up north. They heavily rely on starlink.

  6. Hope Elon sues, this manufacturered outrage and lies about Starlink are beyond ridiculous.

  7. Good, musk has proven numerous times that he can’t be trusted.

  8. AST Spacemobile should be coming online soon. Their satellites work with regular cellphones. Better alternative.

  9. Right. Great job. The reason this was canceled is because Elon is buddies with Trump yea?

Now can we look at a certain spa that is being built on prime Toronto real estate at a great cost to taxpayers.

  10. Telus, Bell, Rogers about to get handed 1B dollars for a similar service (probably worse) and outsource all their employees to a foreign country.

  11. “Won’t say cost to taxpayers”. Must be nice to play with other people’s money with zero accountability.

  12. Wait, 100M for only 15,000 residents?! That’s almost C$6667 per resident! Assuming 2.4 people per rural household, that’s C$15000. Why are we paying so much for rural internet in Ontario? Not sure why this was approved in the first place.

People should pay for their own starlink if they want it. And the provincial government pays for hospitals and other provincially owned buildings

  13. 100M for internet access to 15,000 homes, that’s not shocking anybody ?

  14. Don’t care what it cost to cancel. Get another service.

  15. How can a public entity not disclose the cost of anything to taxpayers?

  16. Way to go! Ontario! Yes, you may use that for marketing.

  17. Is it because Rogers did a deal with them and another company to launch there own satellite?

  18. Although the amount is a lot, I AM THANKFUL that turd isn’t getting the contract
