Just days before its stated deadline of Aug. 1, the Trump administration announced a trade agreement with the European Union over the weekend.
The terms include a 15% tariff on most imports from the EU, but U.S. goods brought into the 27 countries in the EU would have no tariffs. The bloc also pledged to buy $750 billion worth of energy from the U.S.
On Monday, President Donald Trump said he could raise tariffs on goods imported from India as high as 25%.
The president has criticized India’s trade policies toward the U.S. in the past. The threat comes as a research firm reports that India has overtaken China as the largest exporter of smartphones to the U.S.
