July the 31st, 2025 – The New York Times has spotlighted one gorgeous Croatian beach among its ranking of six of the best European beaches this year.
Croatia and its beaches are far from strangers to the international media spotlight. Publications and media outlets from across the globe have showered the country with praise for decades now, and Croatian beaches are the usual stars of glossy articles and big media names.
The New York Times, one of the most respected publications in the world, has now turned its attention to Europe’s many stunning beaches as we sit firmly in the hot grip of summer. It wouldn’t be remotely normal to write about the continent’s beaches and not include one of Croatia’s most iconic – Zlatni rat (Golden horn) in Bol.
As Morski writes, the astonishingly beautiful Zlatni rat on the island of Brač, just across the channel from Split and the rest of the central Dalmatian mainland, is one of the most famous beaches in Croatia. It is already internationally famous and that doesn’t really need to be emphasised too much at this point in time. The New York Times shining the spotlight on this iconic Croatian beach however, is worth paying attention to.
“Zlatni rat on the island of Brač, near Split, is one of the most famous beaches in Croatia. Its triangular shape changes depending on the winds and sea currents. The beach is ideal for swimming and kite-surfing, and above it is a pine forest with a view of Hvar.
It is located just a kilometre from the town of Bol, with which it is connected by a promenade along the sea, and a tourist train is also available. Boats and ferries regularly connect Brač with the mainland”, the New York Times’ American journalists wrote.
In addition to this beautiful Croatian beach, they also mentioned beaches in increasingly popular nearby Albania, France, Greece, Italy and much further north in Norway.
