Not sure what I’m eating but it is tasty, if a bit crumbly.

  1. You have to put it on your hand and close the hand to a fist with the polvoron inside to that it’s more compact. And then you have to say Zaragoza out loud while you are eating it.

  2. This is undigested almonds (from pigs) held together by the fat typically found inside the pig’s nutsack. The almonds have to be unidgested cuz the pig’s acid makes them soft but crunchy at the same time. The ingredients are gross (and it’s even more gross to make) but it tastes great and thats all that matters!!

  3. I’ve also discovered it recently, loved the taste but also thought it seemed super crumbly, I actually thought I’d smashed mine on the way home

  4. Yeah you just have to first crush it in your hands to compress it all. But ugh these are delicious I miss these. I used to have these every winter before I moved to the USA.

  5. Polvorones, made of almonds, flour, lard and powdered sugar. They’re not particularily hard to make at home and don’t require a lot of ingredients (what I mentioned, plus cinnamon and anisette for flavouring), you can search for a recipe online.

  6. Am I the only one who stocks up at Christmas (Mercadona gluten-free lemon ones) to eat throughout the year?

If in Madrid city, there was a shop near Plaza Mayor that sells them all year.
