US quits Gaza ceasefire talks, accuses Hamas of lacking ‘good faith’ • FRANCE 24 English

On the one hand, these talks have been dragging on now for weeks and weeks. The Israeli team hasn’t been back home in three weeks, and seemingly no progress has been made. So, it’s unclear how significant it is that the Israelis and the Americans have pulled out. Um, President Trump’s envoy, Steve Whit, was in Sardinia to meet with the top negotiating teams just for a day or so. The main talks were in Doha. That said, it is significant in the sense that as far as we know, the nittygritty of these discussions was being carried out in these in these uh talks. Um, and for example, we heard from Hamas today, the Hamas response, which prompted the Israelis and the Americans to leave the talks, included a demand that Israel release terrorists, Hamas terrorists who were involved, personally involved in the massacre of October 7th, 2023 as part of the deal, a sort of pardon for those who committed the atrocities. That sort of specificity is new and apparently lies behind uh Witkov’s comment that it did not appear to him that Hamas is acting in good faith. Again, let’s emphasize all sides say that the talks continue despite these teams leaving that no one has shut the door or burned the bridge down. So, it’s unclear how much how how much of a difference this departure will

Love how France observes the USA and sees its plumetting life expectancy, social regression, pollution, rock bottom global reputation etc and then goes and enacts the opposite i. e. strict food standards, social programmes that help the disadvantaged, environmental laws that promote pristine air and water and actually standing up for the real victims of the world (such as the Palestinians and Iraqis)! The rest of Europe Loves France. France is such a lovely place to visit and live too ❤!
