Why does RTÉ not just show ads, this music is so annoying 😅

2. Are you using the RTE player, rather than an the channel for RTE 2?

   Edit: It doesn’t matter. They aren’t being paid to show ads on whatever you are viewing, so they aren’t.

3. Don’t watch RTE or the majority of terrestrial TV because of adds. Shits getting worse than American TV.

4. Rights issues, they’re going to start selling ads for those spaces apparently soon

    I’d prefer complete silence, the worst part on RTE 2 is the fucking loop is broken.

    And on the RTE 1 you can hear a guy breathe over it.

    Don’t believe me? Watch RTE player live on 1 or 2 and wait for the ads to kick in. License fee hard at work.

    I’ve literally been balls deep in the other half and had to get up to mute the tv it’s that distracting and horrendous.

    Like put on ads for your own TV shows, or a bit of classical music. Or literally nothing at all. That bizarre aggressive 10 second loop is unbelievably bad.

13. You’d think they’d show something, even if someone paid a fiver to advertise a car boot sale they’d earn something.

    The way rte shows are sponsored is getting odd too, the weather is sponsored by failte Ireland so they’re getting even more government funding. But on the other hand tubs and Claire Byrnes radio shows haven’t had sponsors in months, so they’re losing even more advertising money. RTE is a very odd organization.

14. I watched the Six Nations recently on the player and there were no ads during half time.

    Isn’t that shocking? Like apart from the all-ireland, the Six Nations is the most watched sporting event of the year and there were no ads at half time.

    Yet we hear constantly about rte’s money woes. How does that make sense?

17. I know that in the UK tv has laws for the maximum of ads per hour it can run. I think we might have copied some of them
