Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Makedonci, participated in the Croatian Army parade, marking the 30th anniversary of “Operation Storm”.
This Croatian army operation was decisive in the liberation of Croatia.
The Macedonian said that many Albanians also participated in this operation – contributing to the liberation of Croatia.
He further said that today – the two states, Kosovo and Croatia, contribute to peace in the region.
“At the Croatian Army parade, to mark the 30th anniversary of Operation “Storm” (“Oluja”), decisive for the liberation of Croatia. Invited by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Ivan Anušić, I respectfully attended this parade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, the largest such of the Croatian Army since the independence of Croatia on June 25, 1991. Operation “Storm” (Operacija Oluja), was an operation of the Croatian Army (HV) conducted from August 4 to 7, 1995, against the troops of the self-proclaimed quasi-state, the Republic of Serbian Krajina. Followed by fighting until August 14, Operation “Storm” was decisive in the Croatian War of Independence (1991 – 1995)”, he said.
“Many Albanians were part of this operation and fought side by side with Croatian soldiers, contributing to the liberation of the Croatian people and the independence of Croatia from Serbia-dominated Yugoslavia. The wars in Yugoslavia during the last decade of the 20th century have brought the Albanian people closer to the Croatian people, in the face of Serbia’s hegemonic and criminal policies. Kosovo and Croatia are two allied states committed to peace in the region, because Albanians and Croats are two friendly peoples who believe in democracy and good neighborliness. We do not forget the past, so we will work together to ensure that it does not happen again,” said the Macedonian. /Gazeta Express
