Domain Group and the West Australian Government’s Landgate have completed the rollout of a new property valuation platform for Western Australia.
The VM Online platform, delivered by Domain Group, replaces the state’s older valuation systems and is designed to process over one million statutory rating and taxing valuations each year across Western Australia.
Landgate, Western Australia’s Land Information Authority, is now using the system to streamline workflows and assist in meeting state regulatory requirements regarding property valuations. According to Domain Group, the system utilises digital technologies and smart data analysis tools to support the fair, accurate, and independent valuing of properties throughout the state.
The contract to deliver the system was awarded to Domain Group in 2023. The new platform, VM Online, replaces the previous legacy system and forms part of the government’s digital transformation strategy within property and land management.
Capabilities
VM Online introduces new digital functionalities that aim to reduce processing times and simplify administration for both local and state authorities. These advancements are intended to support the state’s annual need for a high volume of statutory valuations and to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory practices.
According to Domain Group, the VM Online platform integrates smart technology and advanced data analytics. The company states that the new system allows improved creation, tracking, and delivery of property valuations, whilst continuing to meet high standards of accuracy and independence in valuation processes.
Yunyeong Kim, Managing Director at Domain Insight, said:
“We’re proud to support Landgate in delivering property valuations that are not only fair and accurate, but also cost-effective and future-ready. This awarding reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation in both government and corporate property sectors.”
Platform benefits
Mike Thanos, General Manager of Insight Data Solutions, a Domain Group company, commented on the impact the new system is expected to have. He stated, “This new platform will enable Landgate to operate with greater precision, scalability and responsiveness. It’s a major step forward in strengthening valuation services across WA.”
The rollout of VM Online in Western Australia follows its adoption by agencies in Victoria and South Australia. The system now serves as the engine for more than half of Australia’s statutory valuations, with over 375 valuers and numerous support teams in local and state government relying on its features for assessment and reporting purposes.
Implementation
The introduction of VM Online in Western Australia was carried out in phases, managed by Insight Data Solutions. This company specialises in providing property data and analytics for government bodies and is part of Domain Group.
Landgate will continue to leverage the platform in its annual assessments, aligning with the state’s commitments to efficient digital public services and transparent valuation practices.
The introduction of VM Online reflects a wider trend of public sector organisations updating legacy IT infrastructure in order to harness new technology and improve outcomes for both government and citizens. Western Australia’s transition to the new platform is intended to keep its property valuation systems in line with national standards for digital service delivery.
