  1. Ms Strum seemed to have alot more to say about the top girls name

  2. Genuinly surprised, that Freya is a thing on the island

  3. The elephant keeps getting bigger but there will always be a way around.

  4. How about all you fragile brits start calling your firstborn barry. I wonder what effect that would have

  5. It’s because the Muslims are always adding Mohammed as a first or middle name, while the Brits are more spread out. The total number of births for all the English names combined outnumber the Muhammeds

  6. What I can deduce is that Swedes don’t give their women names at birth. So how do they address them?

  7. Call for help and we can make João and Maria number 1. As a payment just leave Algarve alone.

  8. Imagine 100 boys being born, 6 of them to Muslim families (the Muslim population is about 6% in the UK). Out of those 6 boys, five get named Muhammad because Islamic culture basically names almost everyone that. The other 95 boys all get different, unique names because people in the West like having names that are less normal (see r/tragedeigh).

Now here’s your headline: “Study shows Muhammad is 5x more popular than the 2nd most popular name in the UK”

It’s factually correct, but incredibly misleading.

  9. tbf, this is not due to a sudden explosion in Muslim children, but more that Muslims tend to be singularly unimaginative when it comes to their firstborn son. It’s like how all PIGS girls are named Maria.

  10. > Mohammed (the most used name worldwide) first

    > “Parents want more unique names”

  11. Remember when they were calling it a conspiracy theory because they used 3 different spellings? Well well, here we are now!

  12. SJ Strum seems like a terrible person. Just from these few lines. What a prick. Also what the fuck is a baby expert.

  13. The problem is Muslims almost exclusively name their male kids Muhammad.

Atheist, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh parents have some level of creativity.

  14. ‘More unique names’ > muhammed, the most common name in the fucking world…

  15. How come this doesn’t happen on the girl’s side? Are they only having boys?

  16. About 90% of Pakistani and bengali men are called Muhammad tbf. Really need to get more creative.

  17. “I’ll have you know what Muhammed is the most commonly used name on Earth!”- Fogel, Superbad

  18. Virgin Barry: names children with varied, cool names

Chad “equally british barry”: names boy after that one guy

  19. Aren’t they all Muhamads? Sons of that one, i don’t remember

  20. For a second I thought it was “André” and “James”

  21. Inshallah every male on earth will one day be called Muhammad
