Welcome to Friday, and to the 1st of August!
July has up and buggered off, and I suppose we should do the same for work shortly, but before we do that, come on in and have a chat. What’s on for your Friday?

Interesting calendar fact: August does not start on the same day of the week as any other month in common years, but starts on the same day of the week as February in leap years. It ends on the same day of the week as November every year and begins on the same day of the week as February of the previous year.
Today I shall be recertifiying myself in HubSpot CRM and treating myself to a curry takeout tonight.
Barely in the office at all today which is quite nice, plus an early finish for a house viewing before we head off to stay with family for a week
My work has kindly decided we can all finish at 2pm on every Friday in August.
Unfortunately 1 person has to stay on to cover phones until 5. That is me today, and I’m gutted
Last few hours left of my holiday in Blackpool, then I get to be on trains and a bus for the next 5 or so hours, solo. Mate went home sick the other day so I’ve been alone since. Next week I’m going away with my mum, can’t complain really on that one.
There’s a work social event tonight, and we are all hoping one specific person isn’t going.
Last day of 2 weeks off, and guaranteed sticky times ahead at work. Hmmmm.
In the office but only until 11.30. Will be WFH, but my husband and daughter are out for the day, so it’ll be quite chilled.
Mam asked me what we are doing for Christmas last night and proceeded to tell me we only have xxx days to figure it out
I seriously need to find her a hobby
I did the whole thing of thinking i’d slept amazingly through the whole night and it turned out to only be 2-3 hours. I did get back to sleep, but then actually waking up after the rest of the night I felt meh. Make it make sense.
I’m just trying to get through today with as few meetings as possible but I can already sense it’s going to be an annoying rough day. The plus side is i’m taking back the two and a half hours from last night where a few of us were still working and i’m definitely taking them this afternoon!
Just got tickets for an evening with Dominic Burn and Chris Moyles at the London Palladium. I’m dead excited, this is the first time I’ve ever managed to get tickets for anything in this modern day of online tickets.
Now I need to go to do work.
I’ve had this whole week off and I’m making the most of it, right up until the final moment
Going to see The Naked Gun in a couple of hours, then I’ll probably get back into the first of the new books I bought on a trip to Canterbury on Wednesday
It’s T.H. White’s _The Once and Future King_, for those interested 😅
Happy Yorkshire day folks!
Off out for a meal with the wife tonight to celebrate a big birthday that I had 18 months ago 😂
Planning isn’t our strong point.
Currently enjoying watching the middle class outrage on one of the local area FB groups. The cause? Greggs has applied for planning permission to take over a charity shop.
Apparently the area doesn’t need another takeaway, it’ll bring nothing to the area and will end the areas ‘comfortable uniqueness’
They did the same complaining (petitions, planning objections and all…) when Lidl took over an old shop unit too.
Morning all, hope you’re well.
Got a few bits of admin type jobs to try and sort today, but otherwise work is thankfully quite quiet. So I should probably go out later this morning and do some leaflet delivery for a thing I can’t talk about here whilst I have the chance. Dinner tonight is either gnocchi con tomate or herby chicken and rice salad, and then we’ll probably watch a film of some sort. I would also like to try and make some progress on the trousers my friend has asked me to hem for her as they need to be done for a festival later this month. Speaking of which, I should probably book my train ticket for that too…
Have a good day everyone!
Been at my current job for 20 years today!
I’d have got less for murder I tells ya!
Doing my motorbike theory licence today. I’ve been on L plates for… eeesh going on 6 years now (yes, had to do my CBT every two years to renew and looking at doing it again). It’s been dragging getting the full licence but I’m finally making moves in that direction. (Have been a car driver since 1997; motorbike licensing in this country is complicated)
My dad’s making the trek up from home to pick me up from work at 10pm as I have 2 weeks off! Thank you to all the Dads who go above and beyond for their uni student children!
daughter works at the hospital, she just said they had a blind man in yesterday with his blind dog.
I’ve got a job interview for a role which could really propel my career and hopefully get me out of a work rut. Its at 2pm and I’m getting nervous!
just got one dog walk to do very quiet this month as most of mine are teachers so I usually take a holiday in August so not long for that! I was very busy last weekend so plan to do sweet fa this weekend!
Very bad night’s sleep, I was still awake when my husband got up for work at 5am 🫠 but then did catnap for a couple of hours.
It’s meant to be a miserable day here weatherwise, so I’m going to curl up on the sofa with a book and some biscuits.
Does anyone know anything about stocks and shares ISAs? I’ve only really got one question:
If the allowance is £20,000, and shares go up and down, what happens if you put £10,000 in an ISA and then, amazingly, your stocks go up by more than double? What happens to the bit worth more than £20k?
Today is an energy saving day for me – had quite a busy week so my ME is flaring up. Hoping to be well enough to go to the market for my friend’s birthday tomorrow.
