Opened Blick today and closed it directly again🥹

Honestly, I can only hope that the political parties supporting isolationist policies (hust hust blocherlis) eventually realize how harmful such an approach is likely to be for the Swiss economy, especially given our strong dependence on international cooperation and trade.

  1. It’ll only be active until TACO Tuesday. Buy the dip

  2. Our politicians were incredibly naive. Yesterday they said it will probably between 10% and 15%. I thought then already- why would that be the case? It was 61% when he began first talking about it.

  3. Trust in SVP and FDP will lead to this. We knew over 3 Months ago 🤮

  4. Still ample time to renegotiate and the tariffs might be pushed back even further

  5. What an unexpected surprise! We can’t trust them afterall?

Fucking well deserved fucking around and finding out. May this serve as a lesson (it won’t).

Viva independency. No more united stater companies in Swiss tech would be a nice first step.

  6. But we are still buying the F-35 from them at a unspecified price right? Just checking.

  7. As a Swiss living in Canada it’s hard not to feel a bit Schadenfreude for all the a$$ kissing the CH did with the Orange Tyrant!

  8. Our bundesrätin doesn’t seem to be young enough according Trump

  9. Immerhin meint de Donnie mir fiiired hütt d Zöll

  10. Um sein sinkendes Reich zu retten, verlangt der unbekleidete Kaiser Steuern von seinen Untertanen.

  11. This Federal Council doesn’t have that much sympathy, first Amerd hides information about the jet purchase before the vote, now this….

  12. ship it to the Uk and then sell it from there. trump is really smart…

  13. Some politicians should quit their jobs for this colossal failure.

  14. Tja, dear SVP sünnelis – if you hadn’t successfully pushed this whole country in an anti EWR & anti-EU discourse, Switzerland could have that deal much cheaper and better. Go earn the fruits you planted…

Will they still brag about it?

I could just hope that the people of Switzerland will now perhaps realize (better) how harmful such politics are – and how the times have changed… as a small independenr country with friends (due to constant cherry-picking) there’s not much to win these days…

Of course, we can still offer mailboxes for umbrella entities in Zug and train tickets for Reddit tourists to Lauterbrunnen (or Lucerne? Which one is better?) – but that will not affect the average Swiss household as much as those news will…

PS: I am sure, this “deal” even includes an rebate for purchasing the F35 at a not-so-fixed-price from our not-so-partnerlike partners?

    /s

  15. I’m not sure what this has to do with anything you say…

  16. As of August 7, 2025, the United States will impose a 39% import tariff on most goods from Switzerland – an increase from the previous 31%. These tariffs are part of a broader trade policy shift and are hitting Swiss exporters hard.

    Most affected sectors and companies:

    Luxury Watches:
Companies like Swatch Group, Rolex, and Richemont are heavily impacted. The U.S. is one of their biggest markets, and prices are expected to rise by over 20%.

    Chocolate and Food:
Lindt & Sprüngli, Chocolat Frey, and Emmi AG face higher export costs, reducing their competitiveness in the U.S. market.

    Machinery & Precision Tools:
Swiss SMEs in precision engineering and machinery are warning of major job losses and reduced U.S. market access.

    Pharmaceuticals:
Major players like Roche and Novartis are currently exempt from the new tariffs, but remain exposed to political pressure and logistical uncertainties.

The Swiss government is seeking a negotiated solution to avoid long-term damage to its export-driven industries.

  17. Buying F35 instead of Rafale from our DIRECT NEIGHBORS is Switzerland’s army biggest failure of all time. Still can’t believe our politicians were dumb enough to pull this off. Actually nevermind, I can easily believe it.

  18. Why is isolation bad when you see that trade is fucking us in the ass?

  19. Bundesrat should just offer to buy 50 billion in US Oil. Pretty sure they’re not even thinking of this. We need Oil anyway

  20. Ladies, gents
Calm down. Es isch völlig egal was de br gmacht hetti, d‘US isch aktuell überhaupt kein verlässliche partner.

  21. Yeah, I wanna be like the EU and buy fracking gas off Trump for $700 billions and pump another $600 billions into the US economy. What a wonderful deal.

  22. Next, drive the contract with the E.U. against the wall, then Switzerland will have maximum freedom and independence! /s

  23. Sadly, she was too old for him. If she had been 14, she could have seduced Trump and probably made him do negative tariffs…

  24. Well, now Americans are stuck with their shitty chocolate 😂

  25. Pech, so wied schwizer USA behandle, und immer wieder das Land beleidige, jetzt goths halt ins Portemonnaie….

  26. Just be Happy they didnt sell Out Our country For some Tax Points that only would have helped the biggest companies.

The EU pays billions For their Tax rate Deal.
