Austin, TX-based midstream firm WhiteWater said it is expanding the scope of its Pelican natural gas pipeline project, which would serve the Haynesville Shale.

WhiteWater sanctioned Pelican in late 2024. The pipeline is meant to transport gas from multiple upstream connections in the Haynesville to the Gillis hub near Ragley, LA.

The revamped design calls for the roughly 170-mile pipeline to have a diameter of 42 inches, rather than 36 inches as originally envisioned. The modification would increase the pipeline’s transport capacity to 2.5 Bcf/d from 1.75 Bcf/d.
