  1. As other have said, home, it’s not really difficult to make, the most important thing is to pick good/fresh ingredients

  2. none, its chocolat cake over here. its belgium after all

  3. Maybe can someone answer with a cafe, bakery or even a supermarket name? My grandma and mother are dead. My SO has a terrible protein allergy, so I can’t make cheese cake at home. Thanks.

  4. My dad sometimes bought them at bakeries somewhere in de Limburg.

  5. Off the top of my head: Ma’s bakery in Ghent.
They do other more american inspired desserts very well, which should be a good fit since you’re looking for cheesecake already.

  6. I really like the cheesecake from Aldi.
I prefer the raw/no-bake cheesecakes over baked ones, and the one from Aldi is pretty good.

  7. I love cheesecake but the ‘Dutch’ cheesecake is a terrible version of it. Any recommendations for NY style cheesecakes?

  8. Unfortunately after my orgasmic cheese cake experience in San Sebastian I’m afraid to try it here.

  9. There is a cheese shop next to Chouke in the center of Brussels that sometimes makes cheesecake and it’s the huge denser delicious cheesecake I ever ate 🤤

  10. So far, the best one’s I’ve had were from Julie’s house (Ghent) and Tartes des Françoise

  11. A suburb of Kortrijk called Bissegem. Bakkerij Tarcis. Doesn’t always have it but when he does i take it home with me. Very random place to have a very awesome cheescake…

  12. I had the best one at a specialty café named Koul in Brussels. Or Kosto

  13. If you’re not averse to some baking, here is a recipe to make a truly amazing cheese cake: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/new-york-cheesecake

Easy to bake, but make sure to make it a day before you want to eat it because it has to set in the fridge overnight. And consider using speculoos for the base for a delicious Belgian twist!
