  1. This young man suffered so much while alive, because our Hospital System is a disgrace. RIP

*Harvey, from Clondalkin, was waiting three years for scoliosis surgery as the curvature on his spine continued to extend to a life-threatening 130 degrees.*

*The spinal curve grew so serious that it was crushing Harvey’s ribcage and lungs and putting severe pressure on his heart.*

  2. So heartbreaking. The family got so much harassment off far-right scumbags from gript as well.

  3. So so sad. When you what the government wastes money on in this country and then you see this it makes me so angry.

  4. As a parent who’s child is on the orthopaedic waiting list this is heartbreaking. Simon Harris’ 4 months promise is so far in the rear view mirror its almost comical.
    RIP Harvey, a little warrior.

  5. This is unacceptable this should have us all on the streets and putting Daily Eireann under seige. I’m furious.

  6. What I don’t get about this is the politicians seem to genuinely try to get this stuff resolved. It’s been a major political issue for quite a long time and there’s resources there to resolve it, yet time and time again, the whole system seems to be just incapable of actually delivering a proper service.

The political actions seem to happen in good faith, but the delivery of services just does not happen. The whole thing is a gargantuan mess without any prospect of resolution unless there’s some really seriously deep reform.

I’m at the point where I just don’t think the Irish political system actually has the authority to direct how public healthcare is delivered here. Policies change, ministers change, everyone seems to fix the problems and they’re just ignored by the system and unable to reform it.

It’s so broken that I think we need to start abolishing parts of it and starting from scratch.

  7. I feel an overwhelming urge to get on a train tomorrow and protest outside government buildings.

  8. Our country is a disgrace. I have scoliosis and was telling a nurse today I am so lucky to have been born in the 80s as I didn’t have to wait for surgery when I needed it. That’s how backward we have become.

  9. As a mother id be out for someone’s head if that was my child. Absolutely unacceptable and no excuse

  10. I met a man before the last election who lost his daughter the same way.  Heartbreaking

  11. This country is run by useless, self-serving scum. Real things need to happen now. Root-of-the-problem solving, not promises that get people elected or plasters on gaping cracks in the earth.

We all sit idle by… What’s wrong with us? This is the worst thing I’ve read in a long time. How can this be possible??? It’s evil.

Healthcare and housing are two of the most vital things for a happy, secure life. I live in constant fear. If my landlord decides to sell tomorrow my partner, be and my not even two year old WILL be homeless. Make that make sense…

And now this??? When are we going storm these fuckers down… Ireland has become antithetical to having a happy, peaceful life…

  12. This is horrific, terrifying and so upsetting. RIP to the poor boy and condolences to his family who were utterly failed.

It’s scary how little good will and safe control is in place to ensure society functions as it should. The ineptitude is staggering.
