  1. Good. As they should. The people making a fuss about this are the problem with today’s society

  2. It’s backlashes like this that tell me there’s too many people with too much time on their hands.
It’s honestly like they pick something new every week to be outraged at.
    Such a nothing story.

  3. You can have good genes and be mixed race, which we Americans all are.

  4. Making a big deal about nonsense like this is how you alienate people and make them not want to be associated with you at all.

  5. The only thing I know about this is how conservatives keep claiming it’s triggering liberals for some reason.

I’m liberal.  I’m not triggered.  I didn’t know it was even a thing until conservatives started talking about it.

Just like the war on Christmas and every other fake culture war thing conservatives make up.

They literally create and fight their straw men every day.

  6. There is no backlash. The far-right, as usual, is claiming there is backlash just to push more of their culture war BS. Why? Because it’s all they have. No liberal cares about this.

  7. I cant believe American Eagle employed an attractive lady to sell their clothes, absolutely gross. /s

  8. People are falling for this being a thing?

    Jesus Christ.

  9. All I know is that this ad is cringey, but I usually find Sidney Sweeney cringey as well.

  10. There’s worst atrocities to be consumed with!

  11. The only crime in those ads is how loose, unflattering and uncomfortable those jeans look.

  12. I don’t know what the problem is about Sydney Sweeney’s ad. I get it’s a bit too sexual but I didnt have any problems with it.

  13. The people making a fuss about the ad are just as cringe as the people saying “America is healing! We have white people in ads!” Like they’re all lunatics really

  14. There is zero real backlash, and the stores at the mall are as empty as ever. People will fall for anything.

  15. This why Trump wins. Pussy ass shit from people who just like to complain. This is so fucking stupid. Stop bitching about everything democrats.

  16. Good. It’s a fucking silly outrage perpetrated by the terminally online.

  17. It’s almost as if American Eagle created their own controversy to boost the ad’s reach. I cannot imagine any reasonable adult actually gives a shit.

  18. This whole ad feels like a new era to me. Five years ago a) this campaign wouldn’t have happened period b) if it got the sort of backlash it has, it would have been canned and there would have been a bunch of corporate grovelling about “listening and learning”.

Feels like corporate America is taking a “fuck you, we’re not listening to ~~Twitter~~ TikTok outrage anymore” attitude now

  19. My front lash is much bigger than the back lash. But I don’t buy women’s jeans so idk how that helps them

  20. Sydney Sweeney has great genes and jeans… I detect no lie motherfucker

  21. Good because literally the only ones upset are the always-online weirdos who are angry about anything anyone does. Normal people don’t give a shit because the ad is nothing deeper than a play on words. I guess some people just wanna find “boogeymen” where there are none.

  22. “Doubles down” on the fact that yes, the ad is literally just about jeans, which should be obvious.

The reaction to this is so excessive.

  23. I’ve seen more people complaining about “backlash” than actual backlash to the ad.

  24. What backlash? The only thing I’ve heard is how happy conservatives are about it. And they’re telling everyone that liberals are mad about it. None of my friends have mentioned it. The only reason I’ve seen it is because they’re lying about people being outraged. Same shit different day. Nobody cares if you say merry Xmas. It’s them who lose their shit over happy holidays. Same here. Nobody cares if a hot white woman is in an ad. Sick of this shit.

  25. “Backlash”

i.e. 3 people who actually care getting amplified by the entirety of the right wing media apparatus

  26. This is like on the bottom of my list of shit to care about

  27. They will get maga people buying the jeans just out of controversy. Thats how all media and marketing works now. Oh, you’re “cancelled” welcome to your new fan base, enjoy!

  28. There is no backlash. It’s like 10 people with nothing better to do. Genuinely, no one gives a shit at all

  29. The backlash to the backlash of the thing that’s just begun

  30. The outrage over the Sydney Sweeney ad was never real. Right-wing media cherry-picked a few fringe comments, blew them out of proportion, and used them to stoke bad-faith division. No serious person on the left cared. This isn’t about protecting free speech—it’s about manufacturing culture wars to distract people while the real problems go ignored.

  31. No shit, it’s the most they have been talked about ever and there will be no repercussion. Few will stop shopping there because of it.

  32. I’m confused, and wait actually I don’t care.

  33. If this is really the thing that’s worrying you in the current state of this country then you don’t have a fucking clue!

  34. More manufactured controversy for the manipulated morons of america
