Denmark’s meteorological agency DMI has issued a heavy rain alert for most of country for Friday, and part of the country on Saturday.
Friday is set to see more “cloudbursts”, sudden downpours in which 15 millimetres of rain falls within half an hour, in several parts of Denmark.
Meteorological agency DMI’s forecasts show a low pressure system moving across the country, bringing with it more heavy rain.
A category 1 alert for cloudbursts has been issued for most of the country until Friday evening, with only the most northern parts of Jutland and Zealand not affected.
July saw several incidences of cloudbursts and DMI issue its first ever “dangerous weather” alert for rain as some areas received the average rainfall volume for the month in one day.
Last month also joined the list of Denmark’s ten wettest Julys on record, the third consecutive year in which so much rain has fallen in July that the month has been added to the list.

The current low pressure system over Denmark combined with humid and unstable air means more cloudbursts heading into Friday evening, broadcaster DR writes.

That is expected to clear up tonight but there may be more heavy showers in Zealand on Saturday as the weather system moves east towards Sweden.
Sunday is not forecast to be much of an improvement with temperatures reaching no more than 20 degrees Celsius and alongside sporadic showers.
While some areas could remain dry throughout the weekend, there will be marked differences between regions, DR writes.
