“Tradition”. More like self ostracism and ensuring your kids don’t ever learn enough to be _able_ to leave the lifestyle into which you birthed them.

Surely no different to any other home schooling. I mean socialisation is probably better for children than home schooling, but it’s not like Fury and his family have broken any rules.
Should be illegal. Education is essential for a modern, liberal society.
TBH I have no earthly idea about the nature, culture, customs, beliefs or rationales for anyone’s life-style choices except for evangelicals (my sibling is one along w/his wife’s family) and let me tell you those folks are whacked.
They will continue to be home schooled, which is reasonable. (Though I have some concerns with homeschooling in general)
Nothing to see here, just another random rich people eccentricities. It doesn’t matter what they do, they have the money to make it work but they don’t even have to: their kids will never have to work (no real work that require qualification – model, socialite, trophy director, … are all possible if they are bored) and will marry likely in other rich people family happy to get along with that.
Education is only a requirement for poor people.
I’ve never left more confident in saying: well, that’s a *dumb* idea.
Isn’t there something in the news atm about travelling complaining they are getting a bad deal due to racism and poverty?
Wouldn’t educating your kids help alleviate that?
It’s nice to have no aspirations for your kids’ futures he lied unconvincingly but in a very “nobody is wrong” way.
I think he’s over compensating for his disconnect from the community.
I know plenty Irish Travellers and Romany especially who stay in school as long as they want. I went to university and I even know girls who have.
Last generation, maybe not so many. My parents did not do higher education.
It’s not a high number, but it’s not against the traveller law or anything.
I think this piece is just an eccentric person trying to represent a community badly, and the article is meant to inflame hatred.
Just child abuse, sad that when parents fail the children, society also fails to ensure they have the same opportunities as other children.
>Fury, who defends his heavyweight world title tonight against Dillian Whyte, would rather his kids stayed in school.
It also says the kids have the choice, so it’s not like they’re being forced…aside maybe pressure and guilt tripping from their mother but I don’t know them so I can’t say
But…leaving school at fucking 11? You’ve barely learned to wipe your own arse and that the Earth, believe it or not, actually goes around the Sun! Why the fuck is that a ‘tradition’? I mean, it kinda explains a lot but yknow
> Tyson wants the boys to go into education but I don’t; it’s just not what we’ve ever done.
But fuck the girls I guess? The boys might have a hope but they’re raising the girls to grow up and be broodmares
