The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Denmark has vehemently denied the accusations made by some Western countries regarding interference in extraterritorial activities against dissidents, journalists, or officials.
In a statement released on Friday, the embassy called these accusations “baseless and politically motivated.”
Albania, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US signed an anti-Iran statement on Thursday alleging that Iranian intelligence agencies are engaged in attempts to “kill, kidnap, and harass people in Europe and North America.”
These allegations, the statement added, “are completely false and lack any credible evidence, and appear to be part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
According to the statement, Iran adheres to international law, respects the sovereignty of nations, and observes the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, calling on those who make such accusations “to provide verifiable evidence rather than relying on baseless speculation.”
The statement expressed concern over Western countries harboring terrorist elements, underscoring that some of the nations making these accusations have for years provided refuge to terrorist groups that plan and carry out violent acts against the Iranian people.
The Iranian Embassy addressed Denmark’s judicial record regarding the terrorist group ‘Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz’ (ASMLA), noting that even Danish authorities themselves have confirmed the group’s involvement in organizing terrorist operations in Iran, including the deadly attack on the Ahvaz military parade in 2018.
On September 22, 2018, a military parade was attacked by gunmen in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz. The shooters killed 25 people, including soldiers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and civilian bystanders.
However, the Danish prosecutor’s office refused to charge these individuals with terrorist acts on Iranian soil, which, according to our embassy, is “questionable and an example of selective prosecution.”
The statement further referred to Albania’s role in harboring the terrorist group of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), a group that, with the full support of its American and European backers, carries out sabotage activities and directs hybrid warfare against Iran.
The statement also pointed to the recent terrorist attack by Jaish al-Adl on a courthouse in Sistan and Baluchestan, which resulted in the martyrdom of several security personnel and civilians, underlining that Iran has consistently been a victim of terrorism.
The Iranian embassy urged countries to uphold honesty, responsibility, and avoid double standards when dealing with terrorism.
