Sinn Féin had a great Covid. But a bad Ukraine

  1. Hmmm but how did Sinn Féin react to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock? That’s what’s important to me and seemingly most other people.

  2. To be fair there was plenty to criticise about how the government managed covid. It was open season for opposition. With Ukraine on the other hand they haven’t been faffing about. We are doing our best to help refugees and while it would be good to send arms, our army gear probably makes old soviet gear look space age. So There isn’t anything for SF to score points on or create a useful narrative around. So they are wisely just shutting up and letting them get on with it.

  3. Paywalled. Without reading the article at all though, this aligns with how I feel about Sinn Fein as a party. When it comes to internal matters, they will likely perform well but foreign affairs and representing us internationally does not seem to be a priority for them.

  4. Wow, an entire article of clichés and without a single coherent point. Anne Harris impresses me at times.

I will say though it is slightly worrying that SF is pivoting to the centre when it is patently unnecessary

  5. They did have a good covid. Mainly as they didn’t overreact, unlike all the other opposition parties. They accepted a lot of the restrictions as sensible, and made smart improvement suggestions.

I lost the little respect I had for SocDems due to their constantly changing covid policies. Lock up travellers, open everything up, close everything down. They seemed to change every day.

Re Ukraine – nobody gives a fuck. You are allowed to have an opinion in the past that Russia was hard done by NATO and then change it when the horrors of Ukraine unfold.
