$200 million ballroom: Yes. On July 31, 2025, the White House announced plans for a new, 90,000-sq-ft ballroom (seating ~650) to be built off the East Wing, with construction slated to begin September 2025. The White House says the cost will be covered by Trump and private donors, not taxpayers.  
• “Gold-plated” claim: No credible evidence. Neither the White House release nor mainstream reports say the ballroom will be gold-plated. Renderings and coverage mention gold accents/trim, which likely fueled the rumor. Snopes also notes the claim circulating online but finds no support beyond gold-accented imagery.
They are obviously not making it for 4 years in mind. Does anyone feel a bit nervous about any of this?
