Why would the resistance disband over empty promises and before the freedom they’ve been fighting for is secured?
Who knew that the terror group whose entire thing is martyrdom for their cause would be unwilling to stop fighting until they got what they wanted? Anyone expecting them to just surrender due to casualties has either been ignorant to a negligent degree or childishly naive–I don’t know which one is worse.
Yeah, no duh. Palestinians have been shot first for decades, and Hamas has been the only meaningful resistance outside of Hezbollah, which operates on the other side of the occupied territory. If Hamas disarmed the Israeli military would roll over Gaza even more aggressively
Now, hold on a minute, I thought Hamas would never stop until the state of Israel is completely destroyed, at which point they would turn their eyes on the whole West. Is their end goal…perhaps not actually the complete genocide of the Jewish people and destruction of our liberal Western ways of life…? 🤔

This is incredibly reasonable
Between Gaza and the West Bank there are ~5.5 million Palestinians living in Palestine, most of these people are stateless.
Statehood would also enable Palestine to more successfully engage in international diplomacy, including securing defense treaties which would be essential to defending a disarmed Palestine from Israel, and other regional powers.
A Palestinian state will need a fully-equiped army, navy and air force capable of defending their country against neighboring enemies, like Israel. Otherwise, what’s the point?
I’m pretty much 100% certain that Hamas dalenda est is the right call here.
Israel, however, has gone completely off the rails and needs to be put back on course.
It’s government belongs on trial for war crimes and genocide.
This conflict won’t end in my lifetime and has last my lifetime.
It’s sad that humans are what they are, but it is what it is and there’s not much to be done about it but get through it. This thing is going to reverberate through history for centuries yet.
So it goes…
Hamas states very clearly in their charter that a Palestinian state means all of israel.
And why would Israel agree to unilaterally give everything Hamas wants up front for a promise it will disarm.
So looks like Canada and France won’t be recognizing Palestine in September then considering a priority condition was that Hamas surrenders and dissolves…
The people here thinking Hamas are “resistance fighters” is appalling. Hamas never had the Palestinian people at their best interests.
But they do still have a point though: if they disarm, Palestine would no longer have any semblance of a military power, even if said military is illegitimate and clearly only have their own benefit to think of.
My only other suggestion is to have Hamas step down from positions of power and reform themselves as a formal military force for the new Palestinian state, while the REAL leaders of Palestine would be elected.
