Battle of Gibraltar, painted by Dutch Golden Age painter Cornelis Claesz van Wieringen (c. 1621). The Dutch navy surprised and defeated the Spanish off Gibraltar on 25 April 1607. It resulted in a 12 year truce and de facto recognition of the Dutch Republic by Spain.
