War in Ukraine: Russian forces advance for fourth month in a row • FRANCE 24 English

It’s Russia’s biggest advance on the ground since November. Moscow’s forces have captured more than 700 km squared of Ukrainian territory in just a month, mostly concentrated in the Daetsk region in the east. Since 4 months, Russia has been racking up victories, claiming one territory after another. Today, Moscow claims to control nearly 80% of the Daetsk region. Our troops are advancing along the entire front line in the border area in the Donetsk Republic, Luhansk, Saparizia and Heron. We are present more or less everywhere. In some places more than others, but overall it’s positive thanks to the bravery and heroism of our men. Vladimir Putin claims to want a lasting peace. But in July, Russia launched more drones towards Ukraine than ever before since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. 6,297 longrange drones to be exact, intended to saturate Ukrainian air defense systems. Vomier has repeatedly called for a face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart. So far without success, I believe Russia can be pushed to stop these war. It started it and it can be made to end it. But if the world doesn’t aim to change the regime in Russia, that means even after the war ends, Moscow will still try to destabilize neighboring countries. Despite pressure from Western powers, including the United States, Russia continues to attempt the illegal annexation of four regions in southern and eastern Ukraine, the demilitarization of the country, and its renunciation of NATO membership.

  38. "Unlawful annexation of the regions" occupied… Time has come for mainstream media to face reality: this is a war. As every war over last 200 years one party must concede.. usually the part that struggles to survive. Although russia continues to gain territories and Ukraine keeps losing human lifes, wester media gets caught in denial. Negotiation is based on acceptance, that is the first step.

  46. EU/ NATO may be mulling augmented fire support against military in annexed areas of Ukraine from Ukrainian soil without formal/ official commitment. The US submarines in position alongwith NATO assets provide the required proactive "umbrella" !
