I recognise that this isn’t that connected to Ireland, so I’ll leave it up to the mods to decide if it should be taken down or not.
There are obviously more French people living here than the amount registered to vote (and only a portion of those voted this time). The result of this just gives some insight as to how that community is aligned politically.
Very interesting.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
It would be interesting to see if other countries publish this kind of material as well.
Yeah, I have a French partner and between her and a bunch of French expat friends, the general sentiment here seems to be Macron isn’t perfect, but he’s the best they can do in any realistic sense right now.
They’ve all commented on how perspectives from some of their family back in France have stunned them though, with words like ‘tyrant’ and ‘dictator’ being thrown around where Macron is concerned.
I’m sad to see people commenting Le Pen = Racist.
It’s fair enough to have an opinion, it’s better to see why people vote Le Pen from a french perspective. If you haven’t been in France in the last few years, it makes sense that you think Macron is the best choice.
Truth is, Macron is not the best, not for France or Europe.
The first round was very interesting, it was unanimously Macron. My French friend says it makes sense because most French here are employed in big tech/pharma so have a favourable background for Macron rather than something on the left.
I’m no fan of Macron but today let’s give our French neighbours a ‘bonjour’ and have a soda bread with galtee to celebrate.
It’s pretty hypocritical to live in another country and vote for the candidate who wants stop all immigration in your home country.
Can you imagine using your freedom of movement to live here and then vote for le pen
395 supporters of fascism we do not need.
As they oppose immigration, they should have no problem fucking off voluntarily.
