Community Rallies to Rebuild Quidi Vidi Landmark After Fire

(VOCM News)

An online fundraiser has been launched to replace one of the iconic stages in Quidi Vidi consumed by fire earlier this week.

Both stages were owned by the same family and Lisa Parsons says her father would dearly love to replace the famous red stage, the subject of many a photo taken in Quidi Vidi Village.

She says the structure was built in 1981 and holds a lot of memories. Firefighters were powerless to intervene, and the stages burned to the waterline – although area residents in a boat with buckets and pumps were able to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Parsons calls the loss devastating for her family, but she acknowledges it’s also a blow to the community and visitors to Quidi Vidi as well.

She’s launched the GoFundMe to take some of the financial burden off her father who is determined to rebuild.
