A Turkish Airlines passenger died during international flight to San Francisco.

A passenger onboard A Turkish Airlines flight TK79, out of Istanbul and heading to San Francisco on July 13, suffered a severe medical emergency while flying over the Atlantic.

Circling over Greenland, the crew of the Airbus A350-900 (registration TC-LGH) was preparing to divert to Keflavik Airport in Iceland after the passenger died midair.

However, they ultimately decided to continue flying toward North America with adequate medical support and facilities.

The aircraft landed on runway 28C at Chicago O’Hare International Airport then taxied to gate M21.

Turkish Airlines station manager Ertugrul Gulsen confirmed the diversion to Chicago O’Hare and added that the passenger’s remains were later placed on a separate flight to San Francisco.
