According to Al-Ahed, Ali Fayyad announced that the most dangerous scenarios pursued by the enemy and its allies are to turn the issue from a Lebanese-Israeli conflict into a Lebanese-Lebanese conflict, in such a way that Israel will be a spectator of internal disputes.
“The more united or coordinated the Lebanese position is, the more capable we will be in confronting threats and protecting the interior,” he said.
Ali Fayyad added that the Lebanese side had made its clear position known to the American mediator, which was that Israel was committed to first halting the ceasefire and withdrawing from the occupied territories, and then entering into any negotiation path.
The Lebanese MP stressed that there was no sign of Israel’s intention to withdraw or stop hostile operations, while Lebanon was committed to the terms of the ceasefire agreement signed in October 2024.
Fayyad referred to the statements of the Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, who had announced that Israel would not withdraw from Lebanese border lands and would not allow the reconstruction of border villages or the return of their residents. Ali Fayyad said that this position reflects the reality of Israeli policy, even if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refrained from directly stating it.
Fayyad stressed the need to adhere to the hierarchy set by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, which is based on stopping aggression and Israeli withdrawal before any other discussion.
He warned that no free concessions should be given without clear guarantees.
