  4. If it is ”news” on X we can’t blame just the government. The platforms aren’t being told which piece of news need an age check and X is looking a bit odd.

    The whole thing is a stupid thing, implemented badly with a lot of people trying to use it for things they want. Just waiting for the next enhancement when we will weaken cryptography in a totally safe way.

  6. I had a friend in the US assert this and it’s not the case. Adult content restrictions are in place. Hate speech is restricted, but the UK media and publishing platforms are relatively open. The UK scores well on the press freedom index, in fact far higher than the US at the moment.

  13. Genuine question – where is the government actively censoring/controlling alt news? Am aware of The Tribune and Byline Times. I wasn’t aware of a problem in what they say.

    I don’t disagree with the feeling that we’ve all just woken up to the sly shift to the right.
