The family of missing person Heather Marks has issued an emotional plea to the public to help locate a mystery man who may hold the key to her disappearance more than 40 years ago.
Marks was last sighted walking towards Leichhardt swimming pool on Glover Street in Rozelle on April 13, 1983, at about 9.30am. The 53-year-old, who lived with a number of medical conditions, was never seen or heard from again.
In August 2008, the NSW Deputy State Coroner declared Marks was deceased, but no body has ever been found and no finding was made regarding her cause of death.
She is believed to have had a partner named ‘Ray’, who Marks’ family believe was an interstate truck driver who drove the route between Sydney and Melbourne. Natalie Jackson, Marks’ granddaughter, is urging Ray – or anyone who may know more about him or her grandmother’s disappearance – to come forward.
“If you were there that day, or know anything, no matter how small, please, I urge you to come forward. To the rest of Australia, she may be a missing person, but to us she’s family and we miss her dearly,” Jackson said.
The appeal comes as the NSW Police launch Missing Person’s Week 2025, which will run until Saturday, August 9.
