Is there another kind of violence besides “armed violence” that I’m not aware of? Because the article title would imply that. Not only that , this is a short-sighted article; Haiti hasn’t had a working government in over 2 years. ALL VIOLENCE IN HAITI IS ARMED VIOLENCE. I think this is shit “reporting”.
People are going to have to accept one day that foreign imperial rule is better than letting some of these countries become mad houses.
> Kyiv, 10 July 2025 – In Ukraine, June saw the highest monthly civilian casualties in three years with 232 people killed and 1,343 injured, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) [said today](https://ukraine.un.org/en/297777-civilian-casualties-ukraine-reach-three-year-high-june-un-human-rights-monitors-say).
Haiti gangs with knives have a higher monthly death toll than Russia with its cruise missiles, glide bombs, 500+ nightly drone waves, artillery and other high tech weaponry used across a 1200km frontline that is, as claimed, out to deliberately attack civilians and genocide Ukrainian population as a whole.
So either Russia really sucks at killing dudes, or that talking point is a load of bull.
I understand it’s off topic for this thread, but examples from the real world need to be pointed out for people making those claims.
A lot of small arms have been smuggled from Ukraine into Europe, which might see a resurgence of armed violence and criminality in the coming years. I’m particularly worried about the effect portable MANPADS that you could put into a trunk of your car might have on civilian aviation and the chaos that losing trust in that mode of transport (and loss of package/goods shipping options) could have.
