  3. Jesus Christ, when will the government get it? The problem with the Online Safety Act is not restricting pornography and sexual exploitation to children, is it restricting genuinely important stuff like suicide, war footage, political advocacy (!!!), alcoholism to _children and adults alike_.

    Just because you may hate Farage, bear in mind they are saying this about *everyone* who wants to repeal the OSA – that is, at minimum, 500k people in the UK.

    I tried to access a football forum earlier today but was asked to provide ID/age verification. Is this an example of the OSA working effectively to protect children from pornographic material?

    They’re not going to win any favours with the majority of the electorate with this type of rhetoric.

    The majority of people would be fine if the OSA removed suicide forums, sites that encourage self-harm and the like.

    We also have to remember that Saville committed most (if not all) his crimes without the Internet, in government funded settings, including the BBC and NHS. So, this absurd association between people who are critical of the OSA and Saville undermines any credibility of their arguments.

    You can’t just say anyone with a complaint about the online safety act is a nonce, you know they aren’t and so does every other cunt. If you want to keep babbling about the children do it, don’t attack your opposition it points out they have a point and make you look like a tit.

  31. What the actual ever-living holy fuck is wrong with the Labour leadership? This is astounding incompetence even by their own incredibly incompetent standards.

    The argument makes literally zero sense, as age verification does precisely nothing to protect children from paedophiles – best case scenario it makes it harder for children to access adult websites, but in reality it’s every bit as easy to bypass as the existing blocks on adult content (at the ISP account level).

    This enabling Jimmy Saville nonsense is insane, wilfully inaccurate and only going to make Farage even more popular because now he’ll be the anti-establishment “hero” (despite being a former hedge fund manager who wants to make everyone except his rich mates poorer FFS).
