Revealed: Ministers claim €260,000 in grants since 2018 for second homes in Dublin

  1. For 4 years worth of grants, €260,000 isn’t really that much. What’s more scandalous is that they have second homes in Dublin, presumably for the purposes of coming to work, if not for renting out.

  2. No offence the rot in this country comes from the top trying to keep themselves cosy and rich while telling the rest of us to tighten our belts and slow down our driving ,has none of them thought of reviewing their massive wage bills instead a post here recently where they showed a list of assistants they all had none of the assistants were on less than €77k if I remember ,double or treble some peoples wages ….incidentally Eamon Ryan had 6 assistants

    Edit
Some are on €43 k but the majority are on loads

  3. Seems entirely appropriate.

The alternatives to this model for second accommodation that I can see is if the State buys an apartment block in the city and offers rooms gratis to elected representatives for their term.

Or we end the practice of having the Houses of the Oireachtas do business late into the night so they can go home at 5.30 / 6.00 like normal workers.

  4. Lads what’s the issue. 260k in grants over 4 years comes down to less than 70k a year total. It’d be more expensive to have them in hotels
