Prince Harry revealed that Queen Elizabeth once purchased an unexpected gift for his son, Archie, at Meghan Markle’s request.
The Duke of Sussex shared this heartwarming tidbit in 2021, offering a rare peek into his life in Montecito with the Duchess, who is celebrating her 44th birthday today, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Harry made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where he disclosed that the Queen had asked him and Meghan what six-year-old Archie wanted for Christmas.
As it turns out, young Archie, who was one and a half years old at the time, desired an unusual kitchen appliance, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex then requested from her Majesty. This is believed to have sparked the young royal’s love of cooking.
Harry stated, “My son is now over a year and a half. He is hysterical. He’s got the most amazing personality. He’s already putting two or three words together, and he’s already singing songs.” He continued: “His first word was ‘crocodile’, three syllables.”
The Duke then unveiled his late grandmother’s unique Christmas present, saying: “Interestingly, my grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas and Meg said a waffle maker, she sent us a waffle maker for Archie..”, reports the Express.
“So breakfast now, Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix in the waffle maker, flips it, and out it comes, he loves it. Archie literally wakes up in the morning and says ‘waffle’.”

According to Harry, the Queen’s thoughtful gift has turned him into a waffle enthusiast for breakfast as well.
He further shared: “Now I have waffles for breakfast, a bit of yoghurt, a bit of jam on top. I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do.”
This year, the Duchess posted a video of herself preparing waffles for St Patrick’s Day, leading many Royal enthusiasts to speculate that it was the late Queen’s unique present to her great-grandson.
