CADIZ, Ohio — A town hall meeting hosted by the Ohio Oil and Gas Association on Monday brought industry leaders together to engage with Ohio U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno.

The event focused on the future of Ohio’s energy industry and the impact of federal policy changes.

“This is the most important industry in Ohio and it’s the base of everything,” Moreno said. “So what we need in Ohio to bring more business, to bring more opportunities, to bring better paying jobs, we need to have a vibrant, strong energy business here in Ohio.”

“What the Biden administration had done for four years has kneecapped American energy. They did everything possible to completely crush American energy production, so what we’re doing is the exact opposite.

“We have to be the most attractive state to do business in. That means a low tax environment, inexpensive energy, a good workforce, good tax policy. So what happens here in Harrison County is this is the economic driver for energy policy in our state.”

One of the main focuses of the discussion was the future of the industry and how recent changes at the federal level, including President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” will impact Ohio.

“Well, first of all, it puts money in the hand of working Americans, so about $7,500 directly in the pockets of a family of four in Ohio that makes $90,000 a year,” Moreno said. “We got rid of the exact $7,500 that used to go to millionaires that were leasing electric vehicles. That was a priority shift.”

The town hall highlighted the importance of energy policy in Ohio’s economic development and the senator’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
