I would like to start a road trip across Finland and I'm a sauna lover. I want to know your favorite 5 saunas that you have visited in your life. It's very important to know the location and why they were your best options. Thanks lots for the info and keep enjoying your summer 🌞⛱️

  1. When Sauna Arla was still open Kimmo Helistö said that Arla is second best sauna in Finland. Best sauna is your own sauna.

  2. I don’t have a top 5, but I do like Rajaportin sauna in Tampere.

  3. Not only to Sauna, in the Winter take them to Ice swim. Best memories were made like this and I wonder why my foreigner friends hate me(jk)
Heard a lot of good about Sompasauna if you’re looking for something in the Hki area!

  4. I think Löyly and Sampa Sauna are both great just because they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. One being high end and the other being community run, so I always think those are worth seeing.

The sauna at Kilopää is a other really good one.

Personally, I love finding wilderness, Saunas. That shit is my jam

  5. Kiilopää Savusauna (Smoke sauna) named Kuurakaltio. Not private however. Book your ticket ahead to ensure your spot, it’s quite popular.

Edit for why: The spot, the stream for dipping, the löyly, the all around well built facilities.

  6. Lonna is my favourite. But it’s only open in the summer (plus late-spring, early-autumn), you need to take a ferry from Kauppatori (in Helsinki) to get there. It’s really nice little trip though.

  7. Wood sauna at my house, the wood sauna at my cottage, my friends wood sauna at their cottage, my other friends wood sauna at their cottage and my friends wood sauna at their house.

Yeah… I like private wood saunas a lot.

  8. Hakalan Sauna (public, in Jyväskylä) is very good and traditional, rebuilt a couple of years back. I know of at least one world champion class löyly guy training there after public hours. That’s when it gets HOT! He might let you join those sessions if he thinks you won’t die right away
