On the night of August 5, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone strike on the city of Lozova in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, deploying more than 30 Shahed-type drones over a 30-minute period.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office on August 5, the attack took place between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m., targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.

As a result of the strike, fires broke out in multiple locations. Damage was reported to railway infrastructure, residential buildings, and an energy facility.

“One man was killed. Another ten people were injured or suffered acute stress reactions. Among the victims are a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy,” the statement said.

Emergency services continue to respond to the aftermath of the attack. The number of casualties and extent of the damage are still being assessed.

Earlier, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered a mole within the Defense Forces who was allegedly working to facilitate a Russian breakthrough in the Kharkiv region.
